The Imperial Hotel Blackpool invests in new family ‘Together Spaces’ as staycation demand grow

July 23, 2026 by CUSTARD

With Britain’s staycation boom showing no signs of slowing and glorious summer weather drawing families back to the coast, one of Blackpool’s most iconic hotels is proving that truly family-friendly accommodation means thinking beyond the traditional family room.

The Imperial Hotel Blackpool has unveiled a collection of unique, bookable themed family playrooms, becoming one of the first hotels to create dedicated private together spaces where families can play, unwind and spend quality time together away from the bedroom.

Sacha Cauwels–Wigan, General Manager at The Imperial Hotel Blackpool said:

“Families today want so much more from a hotel than somewhere to sleep. We recognised that there was a gap in the market because, while many hotels offer family rooms, they’re not always designed around how families actually spend time together.

With the buzz of Blackpool offering endless excitement for youngsters, these rooms give children a place to unwind and play away from where they sleep, enabling the bedroom to be more of a sanctuary. Families deserve a space that works just as hard as they so that’s exactly what we’ve created!”

The new themed playrooms include imaginative environments inspired by the magic of the circus and adventures beneath the sea, with the hotel recognising that older children and teenagers also need a space with the introduction of ‘teen hideaways’ complete with games consoles and entertainment.

The initiative comes at a time when multigenerational holidays continue to grow in popularity, with grandparents, parents and children increasingly choosing to holiday together. While adults can enjoy the grandeur, history and entertainment synonymous with The Imperial Hotel and Blackpool itself, younger guests are given dedicated spaces designed just for them.

Britons rethink 2026 leisure travel with more UK breaks as value for money drives travel decisions

Over a third of Britons (37%) plan to take more UK leisure trips in 2026, as travellers rethink how they holiday, according to new research from AA Media.  Though value for money remains the single biggest consideration when choosing where to stay for almost 8 in 10 (79%), the findings suggest consumers are reshaping their travel habits in 2026 rather than cutting back.  43% are choosing UK destinations over overseas holidays this year. In addition, over half […]
