20 of the UK’s most talented hoteliers have been offered a place on the Master Innholders’ coveted Hotel Management Scholarship Programme, which sees individuals attend intensive professional development programmes at either Cornell University in the USA, Cranfield University School of Management, or the renowned École Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland.
Applications for the esteemed scholarships rose 37% in 2014 compared to the previous year. Now in their 22nd year, Master Innholder Scholarships are funded through the generosity of The Worshipful Company of Innholders, The Savoy Educational Trust, the Master Innholders Charitable Trust, and The Lord Forte Foundation. The principal objective of the programme is to support hoteliers that would otherwise lack the financial means to complete some of the world’s most respected hotel management courses.
Alumni go on to join St. Julian Scholars and are encouraged to mentor others and share their professional knowledge, for the benefit of the industry at large.
Jonathan Raggett, Chairman of the Master Innholders, said: “Every year, The Master Innholders supports the hotel sector’s rising stars through the world’s most prestigious hotel management programmes. We are delighted to announce the names of our 2015 scholars and it is heartening to see more and more applications coming through from boutique and independent hotels.
“I wish the candidates every success in completing their hotel management courses and hope that their training will allow them to contribute to the health of the hotel sector in the long-term.”
Successful applicants said: “I am overjoyed, and grateful for this incredible opportunity”; “I’m over the moon!”; “I am thrilled to be included on the scholarship programme”, and “I’m very proud and humbled to be selected for a scholarship”.
