A new era for Custard

June 30, 2021 by Georgia Ward

Custard was developed in 2007 by Petra Clayton, our Creator and CEO. As a design and PR agency originally, Custard was an agency focused on supporting independent hospitality businesses in the UK.

Over the last two years, Custard has been evolving to drive strong business growth and create a platform for robust and professional marketing and PR talent development. Today, the agency has evolved into a consultancy, digesting and applying knowledge to support the growth of businesses of every size across the UK, Europe and UAE.

The goal back in 2007 was always to be different and to bring professionalism and development back into hospitality marketing. That goal hasn’t changed and is the reason we can call our team, experts.

As a business, we work to the following values:

  • Visionary – seeing beyond the project and always focusing on the ‘What Else?’
  • Intuitive – being creative and always full of ideas
  • Tenacious – doing whatever is required to accomplish a goal
  • Inquisitive – always creative, full of ideas and driven to learn
  • Chameleonic – always approachable and able to adapt quickly
  • Passionate – having and demonstrating a passion for both the industry, Custard and the development of our team
  • Empathetic – showing an ability to understand and share opinions constructively as a team

Our name

To strengthen our position as a consultancy, our name and logo will be represented as ‘Custard’. The decision to drop Communications from the external title and logo was made to not only reinforce our confidence but to create a consultancy that is more than just communications.

Our strapline is confident – ‘The Hospitality Marketing Experts’ – to emphasise the fact we are a consultancy, not an agency and our success is based on our team and their expertise. Our drive to support them in their development and training means we have to deliver and focus on making sure every one of our team members can truly demonstrate their individual expertise in each corner of the sector.

Our identity

Our name is everything and it was important that this stood out as a clean element of our new logo. We needed something to demonstrate the edge we have and the credibility we have built up, as well as our reputation for innovation.

Stars are synonymous with the hotel and hospitality industry as a sign of quality and refinement, but more importantly, they represent the experts within our team. Stars are also symbolic of guidance, light and positivity – there are no boundaries.

The palette

The rich, jewel-tone colours of our new identity were created to demonstrate, wealth, trust and empathy. With connotations to credibility and good fortune, the palette provides a sophisticated appearance, while making a striking impact against other industry brands.

Our new identity demonstrates our bold and determined approach to producing the best marketing and PR strategies in the industry. It highlights the robust nature of our business and our team.

If you are interested in driving your business forward and working with a team of leading industry marketing and PR experts, get in touch.
