RBH becomes first hospitality business to be awarded Platinum accreditation in the Mental Health Charter

June 16, 2022 by Anna Wolfram

RBH Hospitality Management has become the first hospitality business to be recognised with Platinum accreditation in the Mental Health Charter for its commitment to employee wellbeing.

The recognition comes in response to RBH’s Giving Something Back promise which pledges to support its people and community in equal measure, as well as its established Tree of Life Health & Wellbeing programme to promote and encourage staff wellbeing. Earlier this year, RBH chose Mental Health UK to be its dedicated charity partner for 2022 and continues to commit to ongoing fundraising efforts, both within the head office and individually in its 45+ hotels.

The Mental Health Charter is a social movement established in 2020 to change the way people think and act about mental health challenges. Platinum membership is awarded via an audit process to employers showing the biggest commitment within their business strategy.

RBH advocates the work of the charter, which encourages businesses to make a public commitment, works with them on developing robust action plans and offers ongoing support, training and networking opportunities.

On their new accreditation, RBH’s HR Director, Martin MacPhail said: “We are thrilled to be leading the way on the importance of mental health in hospitality. We’ve already put a lot of work into campaigning for the wellbeing of our workforce and the whole hospitality industry, so this is an essential step, and one that hopefully many other hospitality businesses will follow. Having Mental Health UK as our dedicated charity partner was voted for by our employees themselves so it’s brilliant to know our workforce is in support of the initiative too.”

Michael Lloyd, Founder and Managing Director of Mental Health Charter said: “I am delighted that RBH Hospitality Management has become the first hospitality business to receive Platinum Accreditation. This has been awarded following our verification audit and shows the commitment and enthusiasm the business has been making over the past 12 months when it comes to Mental Health awareness and support to their employees. Lots of businesses can learn from the amazing efforts that are being made in RBH – both current commitments but also future plans. Thank you to all the team at RBH, it’s heart-warming to know that there are organisations that are putting the health and wellbeing of their employees at the top of the business agenda.”
