Getting to know Charlotte

By Petra Clayton

It’s the people and talent that make Custard a success.  We spend time getting to know our clients but now we want you to know more about each of our team members.

Introducing Charlotte

Her role:  Charlotte joined us in the Summer of 2017 as a graduate placement.  Since then, she has been promoted to marketing coordinator and has really embraced the fast pace and diverse nature of our work at Custard.

Charlotte learns fast and works across several large clients to support our account management team, so her role can be broad reaching from working with independent hotels through to large multi venue operators. Charlotte keeps our plans on track and writes plenty of pitches and releases to press to get vital coverage for our business and leisure clients.

Other Roles: Charlotte is great at working through a challenge and coming up with a plan.  She regularly gets involved in creative sessions and comes up trumps with some great ideas.  Charlotte also forms part of the Custard marketing team to help drive the Custard name out to the industry and keep us visible on social media and the website.

Not afraid to: Charlotte never shies away from a meaty pitch. Always the first to put up her hand to get stuck into helping with research, ideas and opportunities for new business. Charlotte never limits her thinking and always asks the valuable ‘why’ question.

You can count on Charlotte for: Being chirpy, optimistic, reliable, professional and smart!

What’s her daily routine like?

Charlotte is always at her desk.  Normally adorned in something quite glam and colourful with a hint of attitude, Charlotte puts in a long day at Custard.  Breakfast is prepared late and normally involves a bowl of fruit and something lactose free with chai tea or a black coffee.

She tends to know what’s happening in the industry, we reckon by osmosis as she is full of facts and insights before the day has even started.

Why she makes an excellent Custard: Charlotte has suitcases full of enthusiasm and positivity.  Managing clients comes naturally to Charlotte and her proactive approach and ‘what else’ attitude means she’ll be nipping at my heels in no time.

Who works with Charlotte? Charlotte has the great pleasure of working with the entire team in one way or another.  This is an essential part of her development, so she can really absorb as much as possible about our clients and the industry and the different approaches to PR and marketing. Charlotte works closely with the account management team but is regularly involved in meetings with the account directors to help deliver the plans for our larger clients.

A few words from Charlotte:

What makes Charlotte grimace? Incorrect formatting is a major peeve of mine. Small errors like double spacing after full stops and using a hyphen instead of a dash are the most irritating – there’s a difference between – and -!

What makes Charlotte smile? Pizza.

Favourite story about Custard? Custard’s tenth birthday was definitely a favourite day of mine, as we were treated to an amazing lunch on the chefs table at Marcus Wareing’s Gilbert Scott with a surprise appearance from the man himself! I also thoroughly enjoyed all our advent surprises from Mother Custard, each day receiving little treats throughout December like mini Christmas trees (which incited some office competition as to whose could grow the fastest) or a lunchtime Dominoes feast.

What makes a great Custard? I think a great Custard is someone who gets along with everyone in the team and is ready to get stuck in, alongside paying great attention to detail. Being able to produce a steady stream of snacks is also essential!
