By Beth Barrett

Science Gallery at King’s College London is where art and science collide. The brand new venue will blend versatile public and private hire space to create dynamic exhibitions, events and performances combined with opportunities to host inspirational meetings, presentations and parties. This month we catch up with venue and event manager for Science Gallery London, Chelsey Kendall.

What inspires you?

A motivated and focused team. The people I work with inspire me, especially when we can bounce ideas with each other and get excited about the same projects.

What enticed you to work for Science Gallery London?

The excitement of opening a new venue in the heart of London with so much history behind it and also offering fantastic event spaces. It’s been such a journey being here from the beginning to see it all coming together form a venue perspective.

What is a typical day like for you?

One of the reasons I love my job is that every day is different. It can range from taking clients on hard hat tours around the gallery to attending exhibition shows and networking events. One of my favourite days was at the hospitality tasting for the gallery. The food is so amazing with healthy, fresh and local produce as its focus. I wish I could do that every day!

Tell us something people would never guess about you?

My first job was working on an ice cream van!

What exciting new development is on the cards for Science Gallery London?

I think one of the most exciting parts of Science Gallery London is the outdoor space in The Courtyard. We have so many ideas about what we can do out here in the summer – so watch this space…

What makes Science Gallery London the hottest new venue in town?

The location is brilliant as it is so close to London Bridge Station but also the history of the building, it was built in 1721 but will have a modern and fresh look inside. The uniqueness of the exhibitions is definitely a great selling point for Science Gallery London. It makes a great talking point for guests and is a wonderful and inspiring way to start an event.

What’s the future vision for Science Gallery London?

We want Science Gallery London not only to be a fantastic cultural space for the London Bridge area and local community but also an inspiring and creative venue for private and corporate events.

Located in the heart of the bustling London Bridge area, Science Gallery London will launch in Autumn 2018. Spanning three floors offering a public space to host exhibitions and events as well as exclusive private hire. The gallery’s dynamic design allows for glittering outdoor receptions of up to 500 people in the landscaped sanctuary of Guy’s Courtyard. The unique venue offers a balcony with sensational views of The Shard, which will provide an impressive outdoor event space for any occasion.
