We are thrilled to see Custard Communication clients included on this year’s Boutique Hotelier Power List. The list is a celebration of the professionals who have made great strides within their own properties and industry in the last 12 months.

Industry Titans – Graeme Bateman, managing director, Elite Hotels

Since becoming managing director of Elite Hotels in 1998, Graeme Bateman FIH MI has steered the group of four and five-star hotels through challenging and exciting times. Graeme spearheaded Elite Hotel’s very own Management Trainee Programme in 2012, offering six trainee hotel professionals the opportunity to work across the portfolio in various positions. As a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality, Master Innholder, Regional Committee Member and past Regional Chairman of BHA, Graeme is involved in activities across the industry cementing his Industry Titan status.

Business Leaders – Nick and Julia Davies, owners, The Cottage in the Wood

In the summer of 2015, Nick and Julia Davies became owners of The Cottage in the Wood, a boutique hotel located within the Malvern Hills. Despite no previous hotel experience, the couple has put in place a five-year refurbishment strategy to re-establish The Cottage in the Wood within the industry and local area as a place providing memorable experiences. Since the completion of phase one, the refurbishment of the 1919 Bar & Restaurant, Julia and Nick have seen the business grown by over 30%. Combining their love for hotels and travel with their consulting and marketing experience, Julia and Nick are taking the hotel from strength to strength.

Market Marvels – Adam Rowledge, general manager, Georgian House Hotel

Appearing for the second time in the Power List, Adam Rowledge is a well-established hotelier within the industry. From imaginative afternoon tea pop-ups to the development of a two-person cinema, Adam continues to drive innovation throughout Georgian House to improve guest experience. With a passion for excellence and the industry, Adam has worked closely with his team to help boost employee engagement, provide training opportunities and promote careers in the industry to students at college and university. In 2017 Adam was awarded Young Manager of the Year Award at The British Travel and Hospitality Hall of Fame and was a finalist for General Manager of the Year at Boutique Hotelier’s Personal Service Star Awards.
